Where I've worked
I've been building for the web since March 2000, and I've run my own firm, RM Consulting, since 2008. Most of my clients bring me in as a fractional product and program leader. I embed with the team, get a company email, and work like part of it, which is why some of these engagements ran for years: Healthgrades for more than 15, Mother Nature Network for 12, and Verizon for more than three. Fractional also means concurrent: I usually run two or three engagements at a time, and go close to full time when the work calls for it, so some of the dates below overlap.
Here's the whole run, most recent first by end date. For the stories behind it, ask Key or read the case studies.
RM Consulting LLC
Fractional product and program leadership for companies that need a product launched, a project rescued, or a team shipping again. When the work needs more hands, I bring a bench of developers, designers, copywriters, and QA engineers I've worked with for years.
Conquer and Full Circle Insights
Conquer is a Salesforce-based sales software company. Full Circle Insights (FCI) is a Salesforce-native software company Conquer acquired.
I got FCI's development team, which hadn't shipped in six months, onto a monthly release cycle, rescued Voice Plus (Conquer's mobile calling app) and rolled it out to customers, owned the requirements and launch of an AI meeting notetaker, and led SOC 2 Type 2 audits for both companies.
Case studies: team turnaround, calling app rescue, two SOC 2 audits
Verizon
One of the largest telecom companies in the US.
Brought in to get a stalled SEO team shipping. Within three months it had its own weekly release cycle, and over about two and a half years the team completed more than 500 projects. I also managed two CMS migrations, and my team led the AI search work that put Verizon's content in AI answers for 95% of the key queries we tracked.
MediMedia, Healthgrades, Red Ventures, and RVO Health
Healthgrades is a consumer website for finding and comparing doctors and hospitals. It acquired MediMedia's inHealth division in 2010 and later became part of Red Ventures and RVO Health.
I led the HealthCoach patient assessment tools (a 2012 Bronze Edison Award), consolidated nine content systems into one and ran that CMS team for 15 years, ran the embeddable doctor-search widgets for more than ten, led the syndicated physician search platform, and led state privacy compliance across 20 RVO Health websites.
Case studies: health assessment tools, 15 years on a CMS, syndicated physician search
Dispatch Health
An in-home medical care provider.
I worked with the marketing team on the digital side of getting patients in the door, including a contactless appointment flow that grew into the company's guest booking process.
Golden Peak Media
A network of craft and art websites, including Interweave, Artists Network, and Quilting Daily.
I reviewed the network to find ways to grow it, and led the move off an expensive, hard-to-use course platform, which cut platform costs 89%.
RespiTrac
An asthma management app for patients and their doctors.
I co-founded it with the physician who had the idea and a developer, and we took it to a HIPAA-compliant app running in six practices before winding it down in 2021.
Mother Nature Network
An environmental news and lifestyle website, acquired with Treehugger by Dotdash in 2020.
I joined before the site launched and created its sponsorship model, then ran it for 12 years with a 90% annual renewal rate as it grew into a multi-million-dollar program. Along the way I led the launches of SafeBee.com (a family safety and recall site), SubCulture for Subway, and CommonGood for the Newman's Own Foundation, and I was on the deal team for the 2020 sale.
TenCate Grass
One of the world's biggest synthetic turf makers.
After a run of acquisitions left more than 140 domains and about 20 brands spread across different agencies, hosts, and content systems, I built the roadmap to bring them together.
Smaller projects
- 2026: produced a series of short explainer videos for a healthcare software company, using a pipeline I built with Claude, ElevenLabs, Claude Code, and Remotion.
- 2009: came back to Jewelry Television 20 hours a week to program-manage its move to Demandware, my first client after RM went full time.
- 2008: my first client, HowStuffWorks International, where I turned an idea for a quiz engine into development-ready requirements.
Before RM Consulting
Jewelry Television and Shop At Home Network
A live TV shopping channel, and its network aimed at men.
I ran marketing for Shop At Home, where we used customer segmentation to target direct-response campaigns. Measured against a randomly chosen 10% of the list we held back, the customers we contacted bought 2 to 5 times as much. I also led the team that relaunched the network's watch business as JTVwatches.com, a high-end watch website, in one month.
WebMD
A consumer health website, and at the time the largest in the world.
I joined at the top of the dot-com bubble and stayed through the crash, through four promotions. I launched and ran sponsor programs for pharmaceutical brands and led the Atlanta team on the 2005 WebMD.com redesign and its new content management system.
SellTel and IQTV
TV advertising in Atlanta.
Where it started: selling commercial airtime, then writing and producing TV spots for radio stations.
Education
MBA, Georgia State University, 2005
